4.D.1 Recommendation to accept a donation of approximately 100 dog beds of various sizes and feeding bowls, as well as monetary donations in the amount of [$3,640.57] to Washoe County Regional Animal Services retroactive for the period April 1, 2023 through June 30, 2023, from numerous donors (see attached list), to be used for the humane care and treatment of sick and/or injured, stray, abandoned, or at-risk animals received; express appreciation for these thoughtful contributions; and direct the Comptroller's Office to make the necessary budget amendments. Regional Animal Services. (All Commission Districts.) FOR POSSIBLE ACTION
The donations are truly from those with a good heart (unlike the commenter below pretending to be biblical and then judging others in the same breath). I have been informed, however, by staff that most of the beds go in the dumpster because they have so many. Perhaps they can be part of a care package when an animal is rescued? Or maybe houseless residents can get a free one for their 4-legged companions? Just a thought.
This is a very kind anonymous donation. I appreciate this person who epitomizes the biblical teaching of Matthew 6:3-4, which states: When you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your deed may be in secret. This is a true Christian unlike the sycophants often encountered in commissioner meetings, claiming to speak the word of God while disparaging anything outside of their own narrow viewpoints. Bless this person.

I support any assistance the Washoe County Animal Services can receive. They do a wonderful job meeting the needs of our animals who need our help
