Agenda Item #10 on Tahoe Microtransit Transportation Service. I want to complement the Commissioners for the program described in agenda item 10. We have all heard how Lake Tahoe has become overrun with summer tourists. And some routes within the general Incline Village area likely see congestion throughout the year.

So, kudos to the ideas presented in item #10 to help reduce congestion by having vehicles [small vans, apparently] available to add on to current TART bus routes. To encourage ridership, rides on this new system are free. This is a great idea and I hope free ridership is instituted throughout Washoe County. Because it is more important that more County citizens ride public transportation to reduce fossil fuel emissions, than it is for the County to take in monies from public transportation ridership.

This is an inspired program to improve the Tahoe traffic situation and cut back on those nasty tailpipe emissions. We need more of these great programs that kill two birds with one stone. This program will reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, as well as reduce greenhouse gases from faster moving traffic, less idling, and reduced number of cars on the road. Good job, WCBC!
