Bari Levinson about 1 year ago

My name is Bari Levinson, a volunteer with Sierra Club Great Basin Group. I am also a retired chemical engineer and physician, and have been living in Washoe County since 2020.

Sierra Club is thrilled to see the update on the Sustainability Program as presented by our sustainability manager Brian Beffort.

We fully support efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from our county in order to meet the challenges of climate change and mitigate its effects as much as possible. These efforts include improvements in energy conservation, electrification of vehicle fleets, ongoing support for a greener grid, and support for an urban forestry program. As Brian points out, we always need to keep in mind environmental justice to benefit marginalized communities as we move forward with these programs.

We are also happy to see the county will be making recommendations toward the Nevada Priority Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our county.

Most of all, we are so happy to see the creation of the new office of sustainability for our county, and are in full support of the efforts that Brian has put forth so far. Sierra Club will continue to support all efforts that will improve sustainability in our county.

Please read this. It was an effort to leave my comment. I am opposed to any billboards in our beautiful mountainous and blue skies area. Billboards are an eyesore and distraction.
