4. Declaration of Canvass of Vote and Order for 2024 Presidential Primary Election, as required by NRS 293.387. "Canvass" means a review of the election results by the Board of County Commissioners, by which any errors within the election results are officially noted and the official election results are declared. The canvass shall separately note any clerical errors discovered and take account of the changes resulting from the errors discovered, and the results declared must represent the true vote cast. As soon as the Board declares the results, the Registrar of Voters shall certify the abstract of the results, which must contain the number of votes cast for each candidate, and enter it in the record of the Board. The Board shall order the Registrar of Voters to transmit a copy of the certified abstract, as well as a mechanized report of the abstract in accordance with regulations adopted by the Secretary of State, to the Secretary of State within the time required by NRS 293.387. Voters. (All Commission Districts.) FOR POSSIBLE ACTION
Between early voting and election day, I was a poll observer at 8 of the 16 polling locations in Washoe County for the presidential preference election. In short, I saw evidence of a very well-run election, and Cari-Ann Burgess deserves kudos for pulling this off after just a month in office.
Here is what I observed:
• At every polling location, I saw teams of well-trained, dedicated poll workers who were meticulous about following the rules and helping voters exercise their right to vote
• I saw processes that were executed properly and consistently across locations
• I saw teams that were carefully crafted to include both highly experienced poll workers and newbies so that the experienced poll workers could mentor and assist their less experienced colleagues
• When there were challenges that even the experienced poll workers needed help on, I saw poll workers call a special hotline that provided prompt information to help them do the right thing
• Without exception, I saw poll workers who were respectful of voters, observers, and facility staff, trying to make voting a positive experience for all
• Several poll managers told me unprompted that Cari-Ann Burgess had visited their polling place, and they had been impressed with her knowledge and dedication
• Several poll managers told me without prompting that they are proud of their teams’ work and very confident in the security protocols that are in place
• Everywhere I observed, I saw teams of poll workers consisting of both Democrats and Republicans, all working together toward a common goal. I hope that spirit of cooperation will extend to the commission meeting and beyond.
I highly recommend that the commission vote yes to certify this election.
My name is Julie Mm . I'm a Nevada resident for 34 years and a seasoned, many year election observer. I observed in 5 Washoe Co poll locations during the Presidential Preference Primary this month. Poll worker procedures were correctly followed in all five locations, and all voters properly served. This reflects well on training and procedures implemented by our Registrar of Voters.
Please certify this Declaration of Canvass of Vote and Order for 2024 Presidential Primary Election today.
Please do not let the MAGA group disrupt the very important duty of certifying our election. I am a Washoe County poll worker, resident and voter. This election, like all others, was run in a fair and impartial manner. I support our Registrar of Voters and the good work she is doing. Do not let a small but vocal minority disrupt our democratic process. Robert Beadles and his ilk are trying to cause havoc and get qualified people to quit so that they can get their Trump loving minions in charge to subvert our election process.
Thank you for your service to our community by working on the Washoe County Board. I know it is very difficult with the disruptive forces in our community seeking to cause chaos.
