I urge the County Commissioners to appoint the only candidate who is a resident of IV/CB to serve as a Lay Member on the TRPA's Advisory Planning Commission. This candidate is Judith Simon. IV/CB is woefully underrepresented on the TRPA committees and commitions. People who don't live here full-time claim to represent us, but unless you live here, you don't understand the nuances specific to IV/CB. The increased traffic, trash, parking, and crime that has developed since COVID and increased use of County and natural resources. Other counties from both CA & NV around the Lake do more than Washoe County and speak to TRPA Commissioners as if all counties and resources and programs are equal. It is not true; only someone who lives here and sees firsthand what they are doing right across the line in Placer or Douglas Counties vs. Washoe County can accurately express how TRPA actions would affect our specific area. Programs like Douglas County's STR regulations or Placer County's assistance program for local homebuyers. TRPA Commissioners from all over NV and CA hear this and must think, this is across the board, and no one at TRPA Commissioner meetings says, well, no, not Washoe County, yet these folks can dictate what happens with development in our little corner. Do the right thing, please, let IV/CB be represented by a committed full time resident.

I am writing to wholeheartedly endorse Judith Simon for the position Lay Member on the TRPA Advisory Planning Commission. Ms. Simon has served in this capacity admirably, demonstrating dedication to Incline Village/Crystal Bay. Her commitment to excellence, coupled with her profound understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the Lake Tahoe basin, makes her the ideal candidate for appointment. Furthermore, Ms. Simon is the only candidate who is a full-time resident of District 1. She takes the time to attend local community meetings and connect with citizens. Her residency in the area and firsthand knowledge of the region's unique challenges, environmental concerns, and needs is vital.

    Thank you.
