The Board of County Commissioners carries out the business of Washoe County and its residents during its meetings. Warnings about disruptive conduct or comments may or may not be given prior to removal.

I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the Washoe County Library's Homebound program and the positive effect it's had on our community. Senior Citizens unable to travel or leave their homes now have the ability to use library materials, providing comfort to those who need it most. Whether it be Memory Care Kits, audiobooks, movies, or Large Print books, the Washoe County Library has prioritized customer service even for people not in the building. Please continue funding the Washoe County Libraries at their current pace so they can continue their great work.
I am writing to you as a deeply concerned citizen of Washoe County to express my apprehension and alarm regarding the current direction of our federal government. Recent actions attempting to undermine our democratic institutions and steer our nation towards an authoritarian model of governance are intensely disturbing.
I am dismayed by the actions of President Trump and Elon Musk, who are consolidating power in a manner reminiscent of authoritarian regimes such as Turkey and Russia. It is crucial for the future of our County and state and our country that we uphold the principles of democracy and maintain a balance of power.
In light of these truly alarming developments, I implore you to act in the best interests of Washoe County and its residents. It is imperative that we do not blindly follow the president's directives, especially when they appear to undermine the democratic values upon which our nation was founded.
Instead, we must prioritize the welfare and rights of our citizens, free from the influence of a corrupt federal administration.
I urge you to recognize the gravity of the current situation and to stand with the protesters who are fighting for justice, and accountability. We need leaders who will uphold the Constitution and ensure that our County and state remains a beacon of democracy and integrity.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. I trust that you will make decisions that reflect the best interests of Washoe County and its people.
