Our dark skies are one of the things that makes Washoe County so beautiful. Whether you are just a few miles away from the bright lights of Reno or up north near the Oregon border, our dark skies shine brightly and terrifically. They glow for everyone to observe and enjoy. They are undoubtedly worth our celebration and protection!

Nevada has vast untapped wealth in its dark skies. We should not only promote this attraction, but develop and protect it!

A county declaration of I International Dark Sky Week is a great thing. I am fortunate to live in Washoe Valley, where we get a pretty good view of the stars. But every time my family and I camp in Northern Washoe County, it is a treat to see how magnificent the stars are. Just the number of stars, I can't put into words how incredible it is. Here's to keep the amazing parts of Nevada just the way them are right now, amazing.

One of Nevada‘s biggest assets (and differentiators) is the spread of visible stars overhead outside of the cities. Nevada deserves this proclamation. Thank you!

I enthusiastically support Washoe County’s proclamation declaring the week of
    April 21 - 28 as:
    International Dark Sky Week.
I urge all the commissioners to do the same. As a frequent traveler and camper in the rural dark sky areas of our beautiful state, I appreciate how special a truly dark sky is. The unique dark sky areas of Northern Washoe County deserve our appreciation, commemoration, and protection.
