8. Recommendation to:
(1) approve the appointment of one candidate to the Washoe County Planning Commission representing Commission District 1 (generally includes Incline Village and Crystal Bay, most of the Forest area along the west side of Mt. Rose Highway and portions of the Southwest Truckee Meadows area), to serve a full term beginning on the date of appointment and ending on June 30, 2030, or until such time as the candidate no longer serves on the Planning Commission or a successor is appointed, whichever occurs first. Applicants for the vacancy include: Daniel Lazzareschi (incumbent). Ineligible applicant(s): Keith Hayes. (Commission District 1.)
(2) approve the appointment of one candidate to the Washoe County Planning Commission representing At-Large North of the River (includes areas of unincorporated County north of the Truckee River), to serve a full term beginning on the date of appointment and ending on June 30, 2030, until such time as the candidate no longer serves on the Planning Commission or a successor is appointed, whichever occurs first. Applicants for the vacancy include: Applicant(s) for the vacancy include: Larry Chesney, Leslie (Don) Christensen, Sarah Chvilicek, Wendy Leonard, Rob Pierce, Katherine Yriarte. My name is Rob Pierce Four years ago, you entrusted me with the responsibility of serving on the Washoe County Planning Commission. It has truly been one of the greatest honors of my public service career. During my term, I have approached every meeting, every application, and every vote with the understanding that our decisions have a lasting impact on the residents of Washoe County. I have worked hard to be prepared, to ask thoughtful questions, to listen carefully to staff, applicants, and the public, and to make decisions based on our Master Plan, County Code, state law, and the facts before us. Over the past four years, I have maintained an excellent attendance record and have devoted countless hours outside of meetings reviewing staff reports, visiting project sites, and studying the issues before us. I believe that preparation and consistency matter, and I have always taken this responsibility seriously. As many of you know, I am currently a candidate for County Commissioner representing District 5. Regardless of the outcome of the General Election, my commitment to serving Washoe County remains unchanged. Public service has been a significant part of my life for many years, and I would welcome the opportunity to continue serving on the Planning Commission if you believe I have earned your confidence for another term. Planning is more important than ever. Our county continues to experience growth, and we face increasingly complex issues involving infrastructure, transportation, housing, open space, public safety, and responsible land use. I believe my experience, institutional knowledge, and dedication allow me to continue contributing in a meaningful and productive way. This is not the time to appoint someone new to the commission there is too much going on. I respectfully ask for your consideration for reappointment to another four-year term. If reappointed, I will continue to serve with the same integrity, professionalism, independence, and commitment that I have demonstrated throughout my first term.Thank you for your trust, your consideration, and for the opportunity to serve the people of Washoe County.
