22. Motion to reconsider decision not to canvass the recount made at Board of County Commissioners Meeting on July 9, 2024 and recommendation to declare canvass of the recount vote for the recount of the County Commission, District 4 Republican race (demanded by candidate Mark A. Lawson), and the recount of the School Board Trustee, District G At-Large race (demanded by candidate Paul D. White). Pursuant to NRS 293.387 and NAC 293.365, the Board is required to canvass the results of the recount, by which any errors within the election results are officially noted and the official results are declared. If approved, the Board shall order the Registrar of Voters to certify the abstract of the results and transmit a copy of the certified abstract to the Secretary of State. Voters. (All Commission Districts.) FOR POSSIBLE ACTION

    Please vote to certify the results of the Primary Election. Please look at the evidence of this past election, and past history of how elections have been handled. There is no specific evidence that would lead to vote to canvass the prior results. Please do the right thing!

    Now more than ever, we must uphold and adhere to the principles of democracy. The integrity of our voting process must be protected and the Board not only has a legal obligation, but a moral and ethical one to certify election results and canvass the recount. Intimidation, political violence, hate, and baseless conspiracies have no place in this country or our elections. Vote YES to canvass the recount.

    Honorable Washoe County Board of Commissioners,
    With all due respect, you have failed your constituents by opting to not certify the results of the recent primary election. This reckless decision has given oxygen to conspiracy theorists and their outright lies about this primary. Commissioners, it's time to let the truth back into the room and to do what's right and to stop undermining the democratic process regardless of the outcome. I urge you to please vote yes to approve the canvass.
